ADVISORY: AUSTIN, TEXAS
The Austin Justice Coalition (AJC) is holding a "Budget Block Party" to support speakers and other activists attempting to convince the Austin City Council to cut the police budget by 50%.
SIGACT: The AJC is not known to be a violent group and tends to support social justice activism with logistical and legal resources.
SITREP: The "Block Party" is scheduled to be held at the Palmer Event Center located at 900 Barton Springs Road, Austin, Texas. 78704. The event is scheduled to begin at 1000.
The plan is for the AJC to provide food and snacks for those speaking at the city council meeting.
RECOMMENDATION: There is no reason to believe violence will occur at the event. However, there should be large numbers of activists in the vicinity and violence can't be dismissed as a possibility.
The recommendation is to avoid the Palmer Event Center on the morning of 13 August.
